PREPARATION FOR UNIVERSITY - SAM BROWN // KATIE MCLEAN
If you're starting university soon, then this session is for you! Sam and Katie will take a look at what it means to start university with the right mindset, and how you can be preparing yourself for what God has for you on campus. If you have already completed the Student Linkup Sessions, then we recommend making the most of all the other seminars on offer for you, but we'll see you at the Student Reception on Friday night instead.
RADICAL LIVING - SIMON GUILLEBAUD
Jesus was a revolutionary, a radical, a shaker. What we shall be hearing will be revolutionary, radical, shaking. To buy into it will be dangerous, costly, unpopular. We may be rejected, misunderstood, vilified, or slandered. Simon shares from his own raw experiences of life over two decades in a warzone, seeing grim things but also experiencing the miraculous power of God to transform nations. The reality is that if we buy into what he shares, our lives will never be the same…
EMBRACING YOUR CALLING - RICH WILSON
An interactive conversation around God’s calling on our lives. Rich will be chatting to Mollie about what he has learnt about pursuing God’s calling through life’s ups and downs and why he is passionate about students taking their calling in God seriously.
PREPARING FOR FRESHERS SEASON - PIPPA ELMES
This will be a freshers’ season like no other and one which requires a whole new level of intentionality on our part. The freshers who arrive will be unique - navigating their way into the student world and student culture via previously uncharted routes, as we find ourselves doing just the same. As we step together into this season with confidence and faith, what are the tried and tested rhythms and tools which will still serve us well? Where are the opportunities for creativity and ingenuity as we grasp this season for all its worth?
STEWARDING CREATION AND TACKLING THE CLIMATE EMERGENCY - CAROLINE HARMON
All of creation is declared good in Genesis and Jesus came to redeem the whole created order, not just the humans. This seminar will include a whistle stop tour of the bible to see what it has to say about creation and our role in stewarding it well. We'll also consider how we might each best do this as we face the climate emergency.
friday 4:30pm
THRIVING SMALL GROUPS IN UNEXPECTED CIRCUMSTANCES - BEN JACKSON
In a world where it is hard to gather intimately as church, small groups are going to become more and more essential for students as a vehicle for discipleship and mission. Come and discuss the vision and values that small groups need to hold in order to thrive in a season of changing restrictions, isolation, and inconsistency.
CHURCH PLANTING AND STUDENTS - NESS WILSON
If church planting is the most effective form of evangelism then we need loads more church planting. Students are at a great lifestage to be involved in church planting teams and it will catalyse growth and maturity within them like little else can. How can we connect with students, train and disciple them, ready to send them to either plant an expression of church within a multi site set up or get them ready to go and plant further afield as they graduate?
CREATIVE MISSION - EMMIE BURNS
We have to be innovative and daring in order to reach students and tell them about Jesus in the months to come. In this interactive session we’re going to figure out what it takes to invite students to Church and think practically about the different ways we can share who Jesus is in our university cities!
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT RECEPTION - JO & OLLI DAVIS
This is a space for all those joining the conference from outside of the UK to connect, share experiences of student mission and be inspired for reaching students in your context in the unknowns of the year ahead. Prepare for an interactive session, be ready to speak and pray - this is your space!
THRIVING IN TERM ONE - PIPPA ELMES
As we step into the first term of this academic year we do so with unprecedented opportunity in our hands to shape rhythms, process, vision and action. What will shape how we spend this term? What are our expectations and how can we embrace the opportunities which lie before us?
FROM FRIENDSHIP TO FAITH - THE NAVIGATORS: BERNARD DISHMAN // DANIEL WHITE
Be encouraged, whether you feel panicked or pumped we can all play a personal part helping our friends walk into God's Kingdom. We'll be sorting out which bits of the journey are our responsibility, are God's responsibility, and which bits are down to our friends, as we pick up some spiritual tools to love people from friendship to the Gospel and then from the Gospel to Christ. Come and be encouraged at what Christ can do through you.
Are you starting university this Autumn?
FRIDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER - 9:30PM - KATIE MCLEAN // SAM BROWN
Come and meet some other freshers at our student reception! We'll be hanging out and chatting about some of the things you're most excited about ahead of your move. You may even meet some other Christians going to your uni!
