Spiritual openness continues to stir amongst the student generation. Some are curious. Some have questions they can’t yet name. Others are simply open to the unexpected kindness of Jesus. Becca’s story is one of those beautiful reminders that God is always at work behind the scenes.
Last September, Seth noticed a sticker of Jesus on Becca’s water bottle during a lecture which he proceeded to ask her about. Seth, who is from Thailand, had never really had the chance to explore the Christian faith before. But that simple question opened the door to something much bigger.
Over the months that followed, Becca kept praying and making space for Seth to chat and explore what he believed and why. He began by reading the Bible with friends and joined a Small Group designed for those wanting to discover more about Jesus.
Slowly but surely Seth began to open his heart.
Then came the moment Becca had been praying for. Whilst praying one day, she felt the Lord say, “You’ll pray the prayer of salvation with Seth tomorrow.” The next day, she saw Seth in lecture, asked him how his journey with Jesus was going, and then courageously asked if he wanted to give his life to Christ.
He said yes!
What an incredible reminder to us that God uses ordinary conversations, faithful prayer and friendship to draw people to Jesus.
Many students are searching for meaning, truth, and hope. Let’s be a people who make space for those moments of curiosity, because sometimes something as simple as a sticker on a water bottle can be the beginning of a story that leads to an encounter and relationship with Christ.
