Something is brewing. Whispers about it are going round the gossip networks. The smell of hope rather than cynicism is in the air. With words of love rather than hate on their lips, the Jesus followers are rising up.
On the 1st December, thousands of students will gather, in flashmob style, at a specific point in their cities for an hour from 7:14-8:14pm. These won't be organised meetings. No preacher, no band, no big show. Just a mass of young people getting on their knees before God in prayer for their nation. The movement is called 7:14 because of the well known verse, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14.
In York we will gather outside York Minster. In Liverpool students are massing at Church Street, outside Primark. In Durham the gathering will be in the Marketplace. In Glasgow the flashmob is targeted on George Square. 7:14 is a prayer movement amongst young people but anyone is welcome and we are already seeing whole churches be drawn to be part of it by the students in their church.
You can like the 7:14 movement on facebook here. And you can click on any of the cities below to go to the relevant Facebook events.
I truly believe that the key to long-term Kingdom change in this land is prayer. And this is a very exciting initiative of grassroots prayer among the students (future leaders) of the UK. If you are in a city where this is already planned, get involved. If you live somewhere not yet included, start one. Contact Pat Allerton here for more info on how to do this.
