"a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor..." (Isaiah 61:3)
Indeed the Spirit of the Lord is upon us and in us because He has entrusted us with His prized possession - humanity - the world!
Let’s think about this humanity for a few moments. Or better still why not bring it closer to home - Let’s think of the humanity that we are surrounded by - our friends, our family, our close and not so close relatives, our colleagues and study partners, our boyfriends and our girlfriends, our neighbours. The people that we are fond of - and the folks in our lives that aren’t favourites.
The Father promises hope and a magnificent future for humanity through you and me.
His hope is for us to proclaim His wondrous love. To gather those who are hurting with compassion. To break the chains of addictions and perversions that enslave so many. To bring assurance to those disillusioned through loss. And that the joy within us will cause a ripple effect and incite praises to our King!
How privileged are we that we have the Spirit of Christ in us, without measure, to qualify us, for the work to which God has appointed us. That as we partner with Him in this journey we will be able to change the position and status of humanity. To rename them as it were!
Where they were once labelled because of their challenges, they will be identified as oaks of righteousness - An oak tree symbolises strength, resistance, knowledge, honour, nobility, and longevity.
Not wavering but remaining unshaken, immovable and grounded for eternity.
How can this not bring glory to Christ’s wonderful name? How can He not be lifted high for all humanity to see? Will you choose to step out in courage and allow the greatest promise of all - His Holy Spirit to use you?
Won’t you unbridle that promise within you for the sake of humanity?
We invite you to join us as we journey slowly and prayerfully through Isaiah 61 - line by line over forty days.
