I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love it when people say "Thank you!" When I’m driving in my car and I let someone go before me, and they raise they’re hand to say Thank You- It puts a smile on my face. When I hold the door for someone, help someone move house, or support a student with their degree, it can often make my day when they just say “Thank You”. Two simple words go a long way!
We do all of those above things because we want to help and serve people. I want to love people, because I feel called to show the love that Jesus has first shown me. We don’t do it for the recognition, that’s not why we should do these acts of kindness but it’s an encouragement when people say “Thank you” right?
A few weeks ago I spent a day meeting up with all the people that were key influencers in my life. I bought them a coffee and I told them how thankful I was to them for all the things they had done for me. Be It run a youth club I was part of, lead a church that I went to as a child, or encourage me stepping out into leadership- they influenced me greatly!
It was amazing to spend time reflecting on the past and working out who those key influencers were. I noticed how God was using these people in a positive way to impact my life and I am so thankful! I’m so thankful that I’m here, and it’s because of those people that I am where I am, being the person who I am.
Can I encourage you to spend 30 minutes with a pen and paper and write down all the people that have influenced you in a positive way in your life? And then just go and say thank you to them!
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says “give thanks in all circumstances”, and just before in verse 11: “encourage one another and build each other up”. Who are you going to say "Thank You" to today?
Just Say "Thank You!"
