Heaven is sending out invitations to Spiritual Parents! Read the previous article here. They are a response to what is happening today.

A Sovereign Move of God

What is happening today? We are witnessing a sovereign move of God—a slow awakening in parts of the Earth that have been dry and barren. The wind of the Spirit has shifted; the smell of rain is in the air, and the tide has turned. Hearts are being warmed with a personal revival, and are being turned across generations. A new generation is finding faith and longing for spiritual fathers and mothers.

It’s time to open the invite

The first line of the invitation reads: “Come as you are.”

This invitation isn’t contingent on you feeling ready, worthy, or equipped. It’s simply about knowing that you are invited. Jesus assures us, just as He did the early disciples, that when you follow Him, “I will make you fishers of men.” Take Peter, for example. When he realized who was calling him by name, he fell to his knees. Jesus will make you into the spiritual mother or fathers that He needs you to be.

God Has More for You

The invitation to be a spiritual parent also carries a message from Jesus, echoing a letter He penned to His church—both then and today. He writes:

“Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God.” (Rev 3:2)

This call to wake up is a call to open your eyes and be strengthened with his purpose. In light of what God is doing and wants to do, do you recognize the areas in your life that need adjustment or perhaps even removal? God desires to cleanse and clear away obstacles so that He can equip you for the work He has prepared for you. I’ve had to confront my own complacency. I’ve been tempted to quit and settle for less than God’s calling. Distraction, disappointment and darkness can disrupt our purpose, leaving us in a state of spiritual disorientation.

However, when you wake up you have important choices to make:

  • Face Darkness or Suppress It?
  • Be Present or Absent?
  • Take Risks or Stay Safe?
  • Hold On or Let Go?

What will you choose? A whole generation are cheering you on to make brave choices at this point in your life.

The Desire for More

Waking up connects us with our heart’s desire—God’s calling. There’s an innate longing in us to be more useful, and it often surfaces when life quietens down. When distractions fade, we feel that we have more to give. Heaven’s alarm clock is sounding, and the snooze button no longer works and it’s time to strengthen what remains. Disappointments can sap our strength, but we can turn to God for help.  Like Peter we will find our strength comes from surrender, from dropping to our knees. Kneeling has been a powerful practice for me. Instead of trying to generate my own strength, I allow God to strengthen me as I wait on Him.

Urgent Need for Spiritual Parents:

Spiritual parenting comes from an understanding that church is family and that blessing must be passed down from one generation to the next. Many aspects of spiritual parenting in the church remain “deeds unfinished”; blessing held back, treasure still buried, wisdom hidden and lives still waiting to be poured out. This is ordained work and God is awakening and strengthening you for it.

I pray that this blog series helps gently wake and strengthen you—opening your eyes to your “deeds unfinished.” You have purpose, you are needed, and your story matters.

This invitation holds much more, and in future articles, we will explore how God wants to speak specifically to you about your story, your treasures, and the people and places He is leading you to.

Let’s embrace this call together!
