One of our favourite things to do as a church on campus is to go out on the streets and look for opportunities to pray with people and share God's love and power with them. We do it regularly and see amazing things.
But, while we are always thinking about how we can take the kingdom 'out' into the world, it's also really important to remember that we have the most incredible outreach opportunity every week: church. What better way to witness to your friend than inviting them to come and encounter the glorious presence of their maker with loads of fellow students?
Anyway, once a term we do a special service for those who don't usually come along to church. We do pretty much what we would usually do, but making sure to explain everything clearly as we go. Much food and drink is provided as well, of course. It's called 'Taste', for two reasons: we want people to get a feel for what we do at church, but, more than that, we want them to "taste and see that the Lord is good."
A few weeks ago we ran this night, and had around 50 guests show up. All these people were exposed the goodness of God and heard the amazing news about Jesus. What's more, about 10 of these people signed up to receive prophetic ministry at the end and were blown away by the words of life that were spoken over them. The atmosphere was electric and it was obvious God was moving powerfully.
It's so encouraging to remember that the Holy Spirit is the world’s greatest evangelist: we just have to create space for him to move, wherever that may be.
