Ahead of launching our student ministry at Christ Church Peckham, we signed up to Fusion’s Student Linkup app. We saw it as a great opportunity to connect with students and invite them to our church.
We saw that a guy called Theo was going to University in Greenwich so we reached out to see if he’d be interested in trying our church. Theo didn't respond but he came to our evening service along with his flatmate. We soon found out that Theo was an answer to prayer.
At Christ Church Peckham, we are first and foremost a house of prayer and we have a goal of hosting 24/7 prayer and worship. To do that we need more musicians, so we’ve been praying for more to join our worship team.
When Theo came to our church, he came with a heart of service and a skill of playing seven instruments. We couldn't believe how God had answered our prayers and how Theo found his way to our church.
What we later found out was that Theo was supposed to go to Lincoln University, however at Focus he had a prophetic picture about coming to study in London instead. Theo managed to get himself a place at Greenwich University and the last room in his university accommodation, a week before we launched our student ministry.
After we connected all the dots, we were just amazed at how God had called Theo to Christ Church Peckham and how Theo was able to find us through Fusion’s Student Link Up app. Theo serves on our worship team and he led worship at the Do It Again worship night that we hosted for South London.
Theo’s passion for Jesus is unmatched, we are so blessed to have him in our student ministry and wider church community.
How can your church engage with the students in your city?
