Week 29 - Making the most of the Easter season

Every Christian holiday is a great chance to share faith, especially during Easter time. Unlike Christmas, Easter has been relatively uncommercialised. We have found that many unchurched students have no concept of the reason for the season. Students are open to talking about life, faith, and what Easter is really about.

This year in Kingston, a bunch of churches teamed up and kept things super simple: head onto campus in pairs, bring some chocolate Easter eggs, and start conversations.

“Do you want a free Easter egg?”

“Yes, definitely!”

“Do you know the story of Easter?”

“Not really… what is it?”

And just like that, real conversations started happening. Students who might never go to church were stopping, chatting, and asking questions about Jesus.

One of the highlights was Bob, who’s 79. Honestly, students loved him. They were drawn to his kindness and the joy he carried. Bob got to pray with loads of students and share about the hope he has - it was such a reminder that you’re never too old to be part of what God’s doing.

Another pair had an amazing conversation with a student and invited him along to a Good Friday service. He came along and while he was there, he decided to follow Jesus. Hallelujah!

Right now, there’s a real openness among students. People are curious, asking questions, and looking for meaning. And it doesn’t have to be complicated - sometimes it just starts with a chocolate egg and a friendly question.

So why not give it a go?

Grab a few friends, take something simple like the Fusion Worldview Survey (and maybe some sweets), and just say yes to stepping out.

You never know what God might do with it.

Every week of the academic year, we are sharing a story of student mission. If you have a story to share, let us know.
